The Pandemic
Version 2.0
9th of May, 2021. Second wave of the deadly virus
has hit the world, even harder this time; the first one apparently got us
thinking we were safe from the virus which is also a reason why the second one
is so deadly, we all let our guard down at some places. I can’t say much about
the world, but in India, I can see what the ground situation is. As an
18-year-old, I have never seen such a colossal mismanagement of both beliefs
and competency, which by the way made me realise that we too can be united, we
too can help each other despite all religious parameters.
I wanted to document my journey of getting the virus, I even
started writing down my day-to-day schedule, but after the 2nd day I
got too engrossed in chaotic thoughts that I had to give up writing. Here’s a
list of things you can do to make yourself feel better and stay positive while
dealing with COVID (asymptomatic).
1. Embrace optimism: After reading the ‘SECRET’
series by Rhonda Byrne, I believe in the power of our mind, and for those who
don’t, being positive never harms you, but negativity can definitely put you in
trouble.
2. Binge watch/read: To be honest, watching movies/series
you love can uplift your mood whether or not you are ill. Reading your favourite
books can be of great help too.
3. Eat healthy: AVOID any sort of junk, eat homemade
food only, and better consult a nutritionist.
4. Exercise: Now by this I don’t mean I had a strict
schedule and set pattern for working out. No. All I did was dance. Mindless, carefree
dance, on random songs. It was beneficial for both my physical and mental health.
5. Let it out: This is a very subjective activity; every
person lets out his/her/their feelings in a different way. Some people prefer
to let it out on paper, either by writing or drawing while others prefer to rant
it all out to their friends, sing or anything else, just let that adrenaline
flow. I drew random doodles to keep myself sane and clicked photographs in my
room.
6. Polaroids: Pick up your family album or maybe a digital
album, and just scroll through all your childhood memories, this helped me, might
help you as well.
7. Bucket list: Note down all the activities you wish
to do once the lockdown is over and everything is back to normal. This will
create a sense of anticipation and direct you towards positive thoughts.
8. Talk (not suitable for socially awkward people): Talking;
to a dear friend, to your favourite cousin, or anyone who matters. Talking to
them will rejuvenate you, make you a little happier.
These were a few things I did to distract my mind from
falling prey to negative thoughts during COVID.

Pandemic is better with you. These tips are indeed helpful.
